IDF Updates – December 26th

Joint IDF and ISA announcement:

IDF, ISA, and Israel Border Police forces concluded a two day long counterterrorism operation in the area of Tulkarm.

During the operation, IAF aircraft struck a number of armed terrorist cells on several different occasions. Additionally, IDF soldiers eliminated two additional terrorists during close-quarter encounters, dismantled dozens of improvised explosive devices hidden beneath roads , apprehended a number of suspects, and confiscated weapons.

Among the eliminated terrorists were: Qusai Amin Ibrahim Oqasha, a senior terrorist in the Tulkarm terrorist network, who replaced the terrorist Tarek Doush who was eliminated last week in a joint IDF and ISA aerial strike.
Along with Qusai, the terrorists Jomaa Salam Ubaid and Imran Harun, an additional senior terrorist in the terrorist network were eliminated.

The Israeli security forces will continue to operate in offense and in defense to maintain the security of Israeli citizens.

IDF: In recent days, with the direction of IDF and ISA intelligence, the IAF conducted a precise strike on the terrorists Muhammad Jamil Salman Basous, a senior terrorist in the engineering unit of the Gaza City Brigade in the Hamas terrorist organization, and Muhammad Kamal Muhammad Al-Haj, a Nukhba company commander in the Zeitoun Battalion.

Muhammad Jamil Salman Basous was a senior commander in the engineering unit of Hamas’ Gaza City Brigade. He was responsible for supplying explosives to terrorist operatives and stored explosive materials inside his house.

Additionally, the terrorist Muhammad Al-Haj, who served as a Nukhba company commander in the Zeitoun Battalion, carried out sniper attacks for Hamas against IDF troops.

The terrorist Mahmoud Jamil Salman Basous, a platoon commander in Hamas’ Shejaiya Battalion and the brother of Muhammad Jamil Salman Basous, was also eliminated in the strike.

Prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence.

The IDF will continue to operate against Hamas in defense of the citizens of Israel.

Overnight, with the direction of IDF and ISA intelligence, the IAF conducted a precise strike on an Islamic Jihad terrorist cell inside of a vehicle in the area of Nuseirat.

A number of Islamic Jihad terrorists were eliminated in the strike, including:

1. Ibrahim Jamal Ibrahim Al-Sheikh Ali, Islamic Jihad operations and combat propaganda operative.
2. Faisal Abdallah Muhammad Abu Qamsan, Head of Security for the Islamic Jihad in Nuseirat.
3. Mohammed Ayad Khamis al-Lada’a, Islamic Jihad combat propagandist.
4. Ayman Nihad Abd Alrahman Jadi, Islamic Jihad combat propagandist and former Islamic Jihad naval operative.
5. Fadi Ihab Muhammad Ramadan Hassouna, Islamic Jihad combat propagandist in Nuseirat.

Intelligence from multiple sources confirmed that these individuals were Islamic Jihad operatives posing as journalists. One source was a list of Islamic Jihad operatives discovered by the IDF during operations in the Gaza Strip. This list explicitly identified four of the eliminated individuals as members of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization.

Prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence.

The IDF and ISA will continue to operate against the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip.
