IDF Updates – January 7th

During the incident in which CPT Eitan Israel Shiknazi fell, an additional soldier whose family has been notified has fallen. His name has not yet been cleared for publication and will be published.

In addition, two soldiers from from the 932nd Battalion, Nahal Brigade, were severely injured.

The soldiers were evacuated to a hospital to receive medical treatment and their families have been notified.

IDF: Overnight, Israeli security forces began conducting counterterrorism activity in the Jordan Valley Regional Brigade. During the activity, after an armed terrorist cell opened fire toward the security forces in the area of Tamun, the IAF struck and eliminated two armed terrorists. Additionally, weapons were confiscated and several wanted individuals were apprehended.

Overnight, Israeli security forces operated to thwart terrorism in several areas in the Central Command.

In Taluza, the security forces eliminated a terrorist in close-quarters combat, confiscated an AK-47 rifle, and apprehended a wanted individual. In Rafidia, the security forces apprehended two wanted individuals and confiscated a ‘Carlo’ weapon.

In the Judea Regional Brigade, IDF soldiers confiscated three weapons and apprehended a wanted individual. In the Binyamin Regional Brigade, five wanted individuals were apprehended. In the Etzion Regional Brigade, eight wanted individuals were apprehended, in the Efraim Regional Brigade, three wanted individuals were apprehended and in the Binyamin Regional Brigade, five wanted individuals were apprehended.

During an exchange of fire in Taluza, an IDF reservist soldier in the 7037th Battalion was severely injured. The soldier was evacuated to a hospital to receive medical treatment and his family has been notified.

IDF: Hamas Terrorist Apprehended at Kamal Adwan Hospital: “They believe the hospital is a safe haven for them because the military cannot directly target it”; “Weapons were transferred to and from the hospital”

During activity of the 162nd Division, the ISA, and Unit 504 last weekend in the area of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, over 240 Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists were apprehended. As part of the interrogations, the terrorists have so far provided substantial intelligence information that is assisting IDF operations in the area.

Footage from the interrogation of Anas Muhammad Faiz Al-Sharif, a Hamas terrorist apprehended during the troops’ activity in the area of Kamal Adwan Hospital and brought for further investigation in Israeli territory, is now cleared for publication. He presented his role in Hamas and detailed how its terrorists operate in the hospital area, including the transfer of weapons to and from the hospital.

IDF: The Deputy Commander of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), Vice Admiral (* * *) Brad Cooper, arrived in Israel last week (Thursday) as the official guest of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, MG Amir Baram.

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff and the Deputy Commander of CENTCOM visited several Israeli Air Force bases, including the Nevatim Base, where they reviewed capabilities and discussed the joint operational activities between the two militaries. Additionally, a joint discussion was held regarding action in response to threats from Yemen and cooperation with the U.S. military in the comprehensive defense support for Israel and the Middle East. Later, they received a strategic briefing led by the Chief of Air Staff, Brig. Gen. Omer Tischler, the Commanding Officer of the Nevatim Air Force Base, and additional commanders.

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff and the Deputy Commander of CENTCOM also visited the 80th Division, where the key operational efforts, the enemy’s changes along the borders, and the power factors influencing the region were presented. As part of the visit, a joint situational assessment was conducted, focusing on second and third-tier threats. The commanders also visited the Northern Command, conducted a joint situation assessment, and met with representatives from the Joint Implementation Mechanism. The IDF will continue to deepen its relationship with the U.S. military out of a commitment to strengthening regional stability and coordination between the two militaries.

IDF: Chief of the General Staff in Jabaliya: We Will Bring Hamas to a Point Where They Understand They Must Return All the Hostages

The Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, conducted a situational assessment and discussion with commanders last night (Monday) in the Jabaliya area of the Gaza Strip, including with the Commanding Officer of the Southern Command, MG Yaron Finkelman, the Commanding Officer of the 162th Division, BG Itzik Cohen, and the brigade commanders.
