IDF Updates – February 28th

Joint IDF, ISA and Israel Police Announcement:

Over the past week, Israeli security forces conducted counterterrorism activities across Judea and Samaria. The forces apprehended approximately 75 wanted individuals and confiscated 17 weapons.

Overnight, as part of the counterterrorism operation in northern Samaria, Israeli security forces operated in Al Yamun, and apprehended four wanted individuals and confiscated two M-16 rifles. Additionally, four wanted individuals were apprehended overnight in Hebron and two M-16 rifles were confiscated. In Immatain, thousands of shekels worth of terror funds were confiscated.

Over the past week, Israeli security forces conducted counterterrorism activities in Jericho, apprehended several wanted individuals, and questioned dozens of suspects in terrorist activities.

The apprehended suspects and the weapons confiscated were transferred to security forces for further processing.

IDF: Earlier today (Thursday), activity inside an observation post belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization was identified in the area of Aainata in southern Lebanon. The observation post was struck by the IAF.

The presence of the observation post constitutes a violation of the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon.


IDF: The Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, met today with the heads of the regional councils and communities near the Gaza Strip. He presented the main findings of the inquiries into the events of October 7th, alongside the Commanding Officer of the Southern Command, the Commanding Officer of the Home Front Command, the Commanding Officer of the Gaza Division, and representatives from the IAF and the Intelligence Directorate.

The commanders outlined the key conclusions and lessons learned, emphasizing the IDF’s future preparedness and the process of learning and implementing these lessons to enhance security in the region.

The Chief of the General Staff thanked the heads of the communities for this important meeting and reaffirmed the IDF’s deep commitment to providing answers to the public as part of building trust in the military.

He concluded by stating that the IDF will do everything necessary to ensure that the western Negev becomes a safe and thriving region. In the coming years, this will stand as a testament to our deep victory.
