IDF Updates – August 31st

IDF: The Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, has completed a situational assessment with the commanding officers of the regional commands and the commanding officers of the General Staff, on the activity in all regions, and following the events in Judea and Samaria.

The Chief of the General Staff emphasized the continuation of the offensive effort to thwart terrorism, and the defense efforts in the communities, roads and the Judea and Samaria security barrier, as well as the increased alertness and readiness of the troops. The Chief of the General Staff referred to the counterterrorism operation in the Jenin area, aimed at preventing terrorist attacks like the one that occurred early this morning in Etzion.


IDF: Operations Continue in the Jenin Area

The Kfir Brigade in cooperation with Yamam (Israel’s National Counter-Terrorism Unit) and ISA forces have been operating in the Nur Shams area for the past few days. During the activity, five terrorists were eliminated, including Mohammed Jabar “Abu Shujaa”, the head of the terror organization in the Nur Shams area. Additionally, 6 wanted individuals were apprehended.

During the operation, the forces located and destroyed dozens of explosives that were planted on the roads with the aim of harming our forces. The soldiers identified a suspicious vehicle near the government hospital in Tulkarm, inside the vehicle they located an M16 rifle and a large quantity of weapons.

The IDF, ISA and Israel Border Police forces continue their activities in the Jenin area, so far 14 terrorists have been eliminated and dozens of explosives have been destroyed.

During the incident in which Staff Sergeant Elkana Navon fell, an officer from the 906th Battalion, Infantry Training School (Bislach) Brigade was severely injured.

Additionally, a reservist from the 9207th Battalion, 16th Brigade, was severely injured earlier today (Saturday) during operational activity in the central Gaza Strip.

The injured soldiers were evacuated to a hospital to receive medical treatment and their families have been notified.


IDF: The IDF located a number of bodies during combat in the Gaza Strip. At this time, the troops are still operating in the area and are carrying out a process to extract and identify the bodies that will last several hours. We ask to refrain from spreading rumors.
