[8:24 AM, 8/9/2024] Shalom Menora: IDF: Overnight (Thursday), the IAF struck a Hezbollah command center in the area of Hanaouay and terrorist infrastructure in the area of Ayta ash Shab in southern Lebanon.
Additionally, the IAF struck a Hezbollah launcher in the area of Ayta ash Shab from which rockets were fired yesterday toward the area of Biranit in the upper Galilee. No injuries were reported.
Following the sirens that sounded over the past hour in the areas of Manara and Kiryat Shmona, a number of projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon and falling in open areas. No injuries were reported.

[8:24 AM, 8/9/2024] Shalom Menora: IDF: The 98th Division began operational activity against terror targets in the Khan Yunis area
Following intelligence indicating the presence of terrorists and terror infrastructure in the area of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, and as part of the effort to degrade the terror organizations’ capabilities throughout the Gaza Strip as they attempt to regroup, the IDF’s 98th Division began operational activity in the Khan Yunis area.
As part of the operational activity, the troops are engaging in combat both above and below-ground to eliminate terrorists in the area while locating and dismantling weaponry and terrorist infrastructure.
Alongside the operational activity, the IAF struck more than 30 Hamas terror targets in Khan Yunis including weapons storage facilities and terrorist gathering areas. Furthermore, a number of terrorists, including terrorists at the tactical level who planned and carried out mortar and sniper fire attacks toward IDF troops and the State of Israel, were eliminated in the strikes.
[8:24 AM, 8/9/2024] Shalom Menora: IDF: IDF operational activity continues in the southern and central Gaza Strip
IDF troops continue precise, intelligence-based operational activity in the area of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. Over the past day, the troops dismantled weapons and additional terrorist infrastructure and eliminated dozens of terrorists in the area in IAF strikes, tank and mortar fire, and during close-quarters combat. In one of the strikes, IDF troops identified multiple terrorists armed with an RPG who were on their way to attack them and directed an IDF aircraft to strike and eliminate the terrorists.
Furthermore, operational activity continues in the central Gaza Strip. Over the past day, IDF troops eliminated a large number of terrorists and dismantled terrorist infrastructure in the area. In a number of different incidents, the troops identified numerous terrorists who were on their way to fire at them and were subsequently eliminated with tank fire.
The 98th Division is currently operating against terrorist targets in the area of Khan Yunis while locating and dismantling weaponry and terrorist infrastructure.
Over the past day, the IAF struck approximately 60 terror targets throughout the Gaza Strip, including military structures in which terrorists were operating, weaponry, and additional terrorist infrastructure.

[8:24 AM, 8/9/2024] Shalom Menora: IDF: The Commander of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) General (* * * *) Michael Erik Kurilla landed in Israel Yesterday (Thursday) for his second visit this week, as the official guest of the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi.
The Chief of the General Staff and the Commander of the U.S Central Command held a situational assessment on security and strategic issues, as well as joint preparations in the region, as part of the response to threats in the Middle East.
Additionally, General Kurilla visited the Underground Air Force Operations Center and held a situational assessment with the Commanding Officer of the Israeli Air Force, Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar.
The IDF will continue to deepen its relationship with the U.S. Armed Forces out of commitment to strengthening regional stability and coordination between the two militaries.
[8:24 AM, 8/9/2024] Shalom Menora: IDF: Earlier today, two Hezbollah terrorists were identified exiting a military structure belonging to the terrorists organization in the area Naqoura in southern Lebanon. Shortly after, the IAF eliminated the terrorists.

[8:25 AM, 8/9/2024] Shalom Menora: IDF: A Multi-Story Underground Tunnel Route Approximately 3 Kilometers Long in the Central Gaza Strip Was Identified and Dismantled
In recent weeks, troops of the 252nd Division have been investigating and locating underground tunnel routes, eliminating hundreds of terrorists and dismantling terrorist infrastructure in the central Gaza Strip.
The engineering unit of the Southern Command and the Yahalom Unit investigated and dismantled a multi-story underground tunnel approximately 3 kilometers long that consisted of multiple branches. Inside the tunnel, several rooms, weapons and means for long-term stay used by terrorist operatives were located.

Joint IDF and ISA announcement:
A short while ago, directed by IDF and ISA intelligence, an IAF aircraft struck in the area of Sidon in Lebanon, and eliminated the terrorist Samer Mahmoud al-Haj, a senior commander in the Hamas terrorist organization in Lebanon, who was responsible for advancing terror attacks and projectile launches from Lebanon toward Israeli territory.
Samer operated as the military forces’ commander in the Ain al-Hilweh camp located in the area of Sidon and was responsible for the recruitment and training of terrorist to attack the State of Israel.
The IDF and ISA will continue operating against the Hamas terrorist organization and dismantling the terrorist organization’s capabilities.
