IDF: The IDF located and destroyed three terror tunnel shafts belonging to the Hamas terror organization near the Rantisi Hospital and in the nearby High School; the tunnel shafts, dozens of meters deep, are connected by an underground network passing under the hospital and leading to the heart of Gaza City

In recent weeks, IDF soldiers led by the 401st Brigade of the 162nd Division, in cooperation with Flotilla 13 and the ‘Yahalom’ Unit, located and searched three operational tunnel shafts near the Rantisi Hospital. ‘Yahalom’ soldiers searched the area along with the shafts and tunnels – using a variety of means for mapping the tunnels’ topography and the connections between the shafts. This operation revealed that the shafts are connected by a wide underground network passing under the hospital, spanning several kilometers, and leading to strategic points in the heart of Gaza City. The tunnel in Rantisi is close to a school and leads to another school in the area. The tunnel also served as a command and control center for conducting combat in the northern Gaza Strip and for carrying out terrorist attacks.

The operational shaft located in a girls’ school in the area is about 20 meters deep and includes an elevator and electrical infrastructure. Following intelligence information directed by Unit 504 of the Intelligence Directorate, another operational shaft was located inside one of the hideout residences used by one of the commanders of Hamas’ naval unit in the Gaza Strip. In the tunnels’ topography, junctions and blast-doors were located – designed to prevent IDF soldiers from breaking in and to protect against damage to the tunnel infrastructure.

In a joint operation of soldiers from the ‘Yahalom’ Unit and engineering soldiers from the 14th Brigade, the tunnel infrastructure and shafts were destroyed.

The exposure of the shafts near the hospital and school once again demonstrate Hamas’ cynical use of the civilian population. Exposing Hamas’ use of the residents of the Gaza Strip, including refugees and children, as human shields.

Additionally, during combat in the area of the hospital, soldiers of the 401st and 460th brigades killed dozens of terrorists. As part of the activity, the Tzabar Battalion and the 52nd Battalion carried out raids and scans of buildings in the hospital area, where significant terror infrastructure was found, including command and control centers, media equipment, maps, aids, and numerous weapons.

IDF: A tunnel shaft located inside a mosque and the destruction of a Nukhba situation room; activities of the 55th Paratroopers Reserve Brigade’s combat team in Khan Yunis

The soldiers of the 55th Paratroopers Reserve Brigade have been fighting in Khan Yunis over the past few weeks. The forces have focused on destroying Hamas’ terrorist infrastructure and underground tunnels in the area of Bani Suheila. The soldiers eliminated terrorists and located several tunnel shafts and terrorist infrastructure that were subsequently destroyed by combat engineering soldiers.

The fighters located an underground route that was connected to a war room belonging to Hamas’ Nukhba operatives. The route of the tunnel and the war room were used as a place for the conduct of combat and the transfer of weapons of the Nukhba operatives. The soldiers of the 55th Brigade dismantled the tunnel route and the war room.

In addition, the soldiers located a tunnel shaft and a rocket launcher inside a mosque, which was next to a school. In the mosque, a staging area was identified, which includes observation and combat posts that endangered the soldiers. Areas used to store weapons were also located.

IDF: Over 65 million files, and half a million documents, operational plans and combat methods of the Hamas terrorist organization: this is how the Intelligence Directorate’s Document and Technical Means Collection Unit works, and helps maintain the security of our soldiers

The Document and Technical Means Collection Unit in the Intelligence Directorate (J2) has been coordinating the collection and examination of Hamas assets since the beginning of the war and the ground operation. The unit is made up mostly of reservists, and its job is to extract intelligence from the assets collected by all the soldiers in the field. The unit analyzes and concludes operational implications, which improve the activity of the soldiers in the Gaza Strip. In this way, the unit assists in the extraction of intelligence and its return to the operational end, and at the same time helps to maintain the security of IDF soldiers.

Since the beginning of the war, thousands of documents and technical assets were collected by IDF soldiers, which were transferred to the extraction team and contributed critical intelligence. The IDF’s operations in Hamas strongholds and the transfer of assets to the Document and Technical Means Collection Unit for in-depth research, add a significant layer to the intelligence assessment from the tactical to the strategic level and enable intelligence insight to return to the operational end. The materials are investigated according to their type and in cooperation with various collection and research bodies in the intelligence community.

Among the documents found is a map of tunnel shafts seized by the 252nd Division in the residence of a company commander in Hamas’ Beit Hanoun Battalion. A key explaining the map was located and collected by the division at the residence of another operative. With the arrival of the materials to the research team, the important link between the map and the key wss created – making it possible to identify the tunnel shafts in the field, of which many tunnel shafts were destroyed.

Attached is the map of the tunnel shafts and the key: https://IDFANC.activetrail.biz/ANC355165

A Hamas map with tunnel shafts marked on it was acquired by the Document and Technical Means Collection Unit research team, found by the 36th Division in the residence of the accomplice of the Commander of the Shejaiya Battalion, Wissam Farhat. After initial processing in Unit 9900, the information was relayed back to the soldiers in the field, the tunnel shaft was identified near IDF soldiers and was neutralized by combat engineering soldiers.

In addition, a document was seized with the locations of explosives in the area of Beit Hanoun. After the Document and Technical Means Collection Unit’s examination of it, operating forces were directed in the area and neutralized the explosives.
