IDF: IDF continues operations against Hamas terror targets, operatives and weaponry

Overnight, IAF fighter jets and helicopters struck terror targets in the Gaza Strip, including terror tunnel shafts, command centers and weapons storage facilities. Furthermore, with the direction of IDF ground troops, an IDF UAV targeted and eliminated five Hamas terrorists.

Over the last day, IDF naval troops struck Hamas terror targets and assisted IDF ground troops during their operational activities. Among these targets were terrorist infrastructure, vessels belonging to Hamas’ naval forces, and weapons.

IDF: Over 800 tunnel shafts have been located and 500 of them destroyed since the beginning of the war: IDF soldiers continue operations to destroy Hamas’ underground network of tunnels

Since the beginning of ground operations in the Gaza Strip, IDF soldiers have located over 800 shafts to Hamas’ underground tunnels. About 500 of the tunnel shafts have been destroyed using a variety of operational methods, including with explosives and blocks. Some of the tunnel shafts connected Hamas’ strategic assets via the underground tunnel network. In addition, many miles of the tunnel routes have been destroyed.

The tunnel shafts were located in civilian areas, many of which were near or inside civilian buildings and structures, such as schools, kindergartens, mosques and playgrounds. IDF soldiers located large quantities of weapons inside some of the shafts. These findings are further proof of how Hamas deliberately uses the civilian population and infrastructure as a cover for its terrorist activity inside Gaza.

After locating the shafts, IDF troops carry out thorough investigations in order to understand the characteristics of the tunnels and then prepare the underground route for its destruction.

IDF: The Cooperation Unit of the Israeli Air Force has conducted thousands of airstrikes on terror targets in the Gaza Strip and operated to rapidly complete missions

Since the beginning of the war, approximately 10,000 airstrikes were carried out under the guidance of IDF soldiers on the ground in short time frames. The soldiers quickly completed missions and thwarted terrorist cells, terrorist infrastructure, command centers, tunnel shafts, weapons depots and more.

Following Hamas’ violation of the operational pause agreement, the fighting in the Gaza Strip has resumed, and the IDF soldiers are continuing the ground operation in full cooperation with aircraft of the IAF. The cooperation between the ground forces and the IAF is one of the most prominent elements in the IDF’s ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

Today (Sunday), the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, conducted a situational assessment at the Ops Room of the IAF with commanders in the IAF.
Chief of the General Staff: “A very large part of our security in the ground operation is the cooperation of the soldiers with the Israeli Air Force”.

Attached are the full remarks of the Chief of the General Staff: “We are looking at this operational pause, up until which in northern Gaza we dismantled two Hamas brigades, not completely yet, the 162nd Division is still working inside to secure our accomplishments and to strike more battalions. Yesterday, and today, we eliminated brigade commanders, company commanders, many operatives, and yesterday morning we started the same process in the southern Gaza Strip, it will be with no less strength than that, it will be with no less results than that, and Hamas commanders will meet the IDF everywhere in a very, very strong way. I know that part of this is your capabilities, and a very large part of this is the fighting spirit that you bring and also the experience you bring as reservists.
And we have the capabilities to do this in the most thorough way, and just as we did it strongly and thoroughly in the northern Gaza Strip, we are also doing it now in the southern Gaza Strip and we continue to secure our accomplishments in the northern Gaza Strip.”
