From the words of the Commanding Officer of the Northern Command, MG Ori Gordin:
“If we reach the need to launch an attack, it will be with great intensity.
The defense of your communities by the standby squads, both the evacuated [communities] and those not evacuated, is part of the concept of defense, you are not just residents – you are the protective force and an integral part of our defensive systems.
I appreciate your work and defense until now, your partnership on the way to achieving the goal – changing the security reality in the north in order to return the residents with security and a sense of security. But, even more than that, an appreciation in advance for what you will do. Continue to enable this very special connection that the State of Israel has between the communities – between the residents, and the army.”

IDF: Locating weapons, apprehending hundreds of terrorists and locating medicines with names and photos of Israeli hostages on them at the Nasser Hospital

The soldiers of the Commando Brigade, Shayetet 13, ISA forces and other special forces that operate under the 98th Division operated over the weekend in the area of the Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis.
Prior to entering the hospital compound, the forces had fought complex battles in the area, including at close-quarters with terrorist operatives, as well as against terrorists barricaded inside, and under rocket fire from within the hospital compound, as was published by the IDF on January 16, 2024.

So far, hundreds of terrorists and other terror suspects who were hiding in the hospital, some of whom had posed as medical staff, have been apprehended. Included among those apprehended are terrorists who participated in the October 7th Massacre, those with connections to the hostages, as well as significant Hamas operatives. The apprehended terrorists and suspects were transferred to undergo further investigations by security forces.

In the hospital, the soldiers located large quantities of weapons, some of which were found hidden in a vehicle used by Hamas terrorists to carry out the October 7th Massacre. In addition, a vehicle belonging to Kibbutz Nir Oz, which was likely stolen, was found in the area of the hospital.

As part of IDF activity in the hospital, boxes of medicine were found with the names of Israeli hostages on them. The packages of medicine that were found were sealed and had not been transferred to the hostages.

The IDF continues to invest all efforts, operational and intelligence, in returning home the hostages, and will not relent until the mission is completed.

The entry into the hospital occurred after an earlier warning to cease terrorist activity inside the hospital. The scans were carried out while making sure to enable the ongoing functioning of the hospital, without harming patients and medical staff, and in accordance with the values of the IDF and international law.
