Joint IDF, ISA, and Israel Police Announcement:
Following a pursuit and targeted searches conducted by IDF soldiers and under ISA direction last week (Saturday) in Bruqin, adjacent to the scene of the terrorist attack, a terrorist was identified running toward the forces while holding a backpack suspected to be rigged with explosives, shouting at them. In response to the immediate threat, the soldiers eliminated the terrorist. No IDF injuries were reported.
Following an intelligence assessment by the IDF, ISA, and Israel Police, it was determined that Nael Samara, the terrorist who was eliminated, was the terrorist who carried out the shooting attack adjacent to Bruchin on Thursday, May 14, 2025, in which a pregnant woman, Tzeela Gez, was murdered.
The terrorist Nael Samara had previously served a prison sentence for his activity in the Hamas terrorist organization and was released in 2010. He was then imprisoned again for several days in 2019 for incitement on online platforms.
Inside the backpack carried by the terrorist, an M16 rifle and additional weapons used in the terror attack were found.
Israel Police investigators collected the findings in order to identify additional collaborators.
As part of the ISA investigation, IDF soldiers apprehended several additional suspects on suspicion of involvement in the terror attack, including the head of the terrorist cell, who is suspected of taking part in the terror attack.
The investigation also revealed that the terrorist cell carried out four other shooting attacks in the area in recent months, including the terror attack near Ariel on March 12, 2025, in which an Israeli civilian was moderately injured.
The investigation of the ISA and Israel Police is still ongoing.
IDF, ISA, and Israel Police forces will continue to act against terrorism in Judea and Samaria to ensure the security of Israeli civilians.
