IDF Updates – May 2nd


IDF: Earlier today (Thursday), the IDF struck a terrorist in Hezbollah’s ‘Radwan Force’ in the area of Meiss El Jabal in southern Lebanon.

In addition, a short while ago, the IDF struck an additional Hezbollah terrorist in the area of Meiss El Jabal in southern Lebanon, who was operating in the area of the border and gathered intelligence for the terrorist organization.

IDF: Earlier today (Thursday), two Syrian-Druze citizens were evacuated to receive medical treatment in Israel.
The injured citizens were evacuated to the Ziv Medical Center in Safed, after sustaining injuries in Syrian territory.

The IDF is deployed in southern Syria and is prepared to prevent the entry of hostile forces into the area of Druze villages. The IDF continues to monitor developments with readiness for defense and various scenarios.


IDF: Cypriot Aid Helicopter Lands At IAF Airbase

A Cypriot aid helicopter landed at an IAF base earlier today in order to support firefighting efforts in the Jerusalem Hills.

During the incident in which Sergeant Niv Dayag was killed, two additional soldiers in the 890th Battalion, Paratroopers Brigade, and a soldier in the 474th Brigade, were lightly injured.

The soldiers were evacuated to a hospital for further treatment, and their families have been notified.
The circumstances of the incident are under review.

The Commander of the Central Command, MG Avi Bluth, and the Commander of the Northern Command MG Ori Gordin, appointed a committee of experts, headed by the Commander of the 11th Brigade, COL N., to examine the accident.


IDF: The main enlistment day for the April draft cycle of ultra-Orthodox recruits to the IDF took place this week (Monday). So far, 386 individuals from the ultra-Orthodox community have drafted to service in ultra-Orthodox tracks within the IDF. Of these, 23 recruits are currently undergoing the placement process.

Additionally, 26 reservists have entered Phase B, with approximately 100 more expected to begin Phase B next week in the Hasmonean Brigade.

The new recruits have been assigned to a variety of programs and units, enabling them to perform meaningful military service while fully maintaining their way of life.

The IDF will continue its efforts to expand enlistment among the ultra-Orthodox community, while ensuring the protection of their religious way of life throughout their service and tailoring service conditions to meet their needs.

Updated enlistment data for the April 2025 draft cycle, as of May 2, 2025:
– Combat tracks: 196 combat soldiers.
– Combat support tracks: 167 combat support soldiers.

Enlistment data for ultra-Orthodox combat tracks:
– Netzah Yehuda: 105 combat soldiers
– Hasmonean Brigade: 48 combat soldiers
– Tomer Company (Givati Brigade): 19 combat soldiers
– Arrow Company (Paratroopers Brigade): 20 combat soldiers
– Magen HaNegev Unit (IAF) 4 combat soldiers

In the coming weeks, additional enlistments of ultra-Orthodox recruits are expected to continue until the draft cycle is complete, with an emphasis on the relevant combat tracks. The numbers are expected to rise accordingly.

Joint IDF and ISA Announcement:  
*Soldiers of the Duvdevan Unit, Acting on ISA Intelligence, Eliminated one of the Senior Terrorists in the Nablus Terrorist Network* 
Earlier today (Friday), soldiers of the Duvdevan Unit, guided by ISA intelligence, operated in the area of Balata in order to apprehend one of the senior terrorists within the local terrorist network. 
During the searches, the wanted terrorist was shot and eliminated. Additionally, the soldiers searched the terrorists’ vehicle and located a gun and magazines. Another terrorist who was present in the house was apprehended and transferred to the security forces for further questioning. 
The terrorist, Omar Mustafa Abu al-Leil, a resident of Nablus and one of the senior terrorists in the Balata terrorist network in recent years, was involved in several shooting attacks against IDF soldiers in Nablus region, which resulted in no IDF injures. He was involved in facilitating the transfer of weapons to terrorist networks in Nablus and Jenin, and was known for providing shelter and aid to wanted suspects in Nablus. 
The IDF and ISA will continue to operate to thwart terrorism throughout Judea and Samaria, wherever and whenever necessary to protect the safety and security of Israeli civilians.
