IDF Updates – May 5th

IDF: The IDF is continuing to operate in central Gaza, destroying terrorist infrastructure and eliminating terrorists; the IAF and ISA eliminated Hamas terrorists, including a significant operative in Hamas’ Bureij Battalion

IDF troops are continuing to operate in central Gaza to eliminate terrorists and destroy terrorist infrastructure.

Following precise IDF and ISA intelligence, an IAF aircraft struck and eliminated the terrorist Saleh Jamil Muhammad Amad, who was responsible for combat support within Hamas’ Bureij Battalion. He was eliminated alongside a number of other terrorist operatives who were located with him inside Hamas terror infrastructure.

During an additional strike, IAF aircraft struck and eliminated three Hamas “Nukhba” terrorists, some of whom took part in the October 7th massacre.

Overnight, IDF artillery fired toward a Hamas launch area containing ready-to-use rocket launchers aimed at southern Israel.

Over the past day, IAF fighter jets and aircraft struck additional Hamas terror targets throughout the Gaza Strip, including military structures, terrorist infrastructure and weapons storage facilities. In one of the strikes, an IAF fighter jet struck a structure from which a sniper was threatening the troops. During an additional strike, two terrorists who were operating in proximity to a launch post were eliminated.

Furthermore, following IDF intelligence, IAF aircraft struck and eliminated three Hamas terrorists in the area of Jabaliya, including a Hamas deputy company commander, a tunnel operative, and a drone operator.

IDF: Following the sirens that sounded in the Upper Galilee area earlier today (Sunday), the IDF identified one launch that fell in Lebanese territory.

Overnight, IAF fighter jets struck Hezbollah terror targets in southern Lebanon, including a military structure in the area of Khiam, and an observation post in the area of Matmoura.

Furthermore, IDF artillery fired to remove a threat in the areas of Naqoura and Halta in southern Lebanon.

IDF: Following the sirens that sounded in the area of Kerem Shalom, approximately 10 projectile launches were identified crossing from the area adjacent to the Rafah Crossing toward the area of Kerem Shalom. The Kerem Shalom Crossing is currently closed to the passage of humanitarian aid trucks.

IDF: Earlier today (Sunday), approximately 10 projectiles were fired from the area adjacent to the Rafah Crossing toward the area of Kerem Shalom. Shortly after, IAF fighter jets struck the launcher from which the projectiles were fired. In addition, IAF fighter jets struck a military structure located in the area of the launcher.

The launches carried out by Hamas adjacent to the Rafah Crossing, located approximately 350 meters from civilian shelters, are a clear example of the terrorist organization’s systematic exploitation of humanitarian facilities and spaces, and their continued use of the Gazan civilian population as human shields.

IDF: The IDF and ISA struck a Hamas command and control center located in an UNRWA complex in central Gaza which served as a staging ground for multiple attacks against IDF troops and humanitarian efforts

Following precise IDF and ISA intelligence, IAF fighter jets struck a Hamas command and control center in the central Gaza Strip which served as central terrorist infrastructure. The strike was carefully planned and carried out using precise munition in order to minimize harm to uninvolved civilians.

The command and control center was used as a staging ground for multiple attacks on IDF troops located in Gaza’s central corridor in recent weeks. Furthermore, the forward operations base was used to carry out attacks on humanitarian efforts, which aims to increase the distribution of humanitarian aid to Gazan civilians.

In addition, Hamas oversaw the supply of weapons to dozens of Hamas terrorists from inside the command and control center, including those located and operating inside underground terror tunnels.

Hamas intentionally positioned the command and control position within the vicinity of an active UNRWA location, jeopardizing the Gazan civilians taking refuge there.

The Hamas terrorist organization systematically exploits the civilian population and institutions as human shields for their terrorist activities against the State of Israel.

As a result of the strike, the Hamas’ command and control center located in the UNRWA complex is no longer operational.
