IDF: The Chain of Command of Hezbollah’s Aerial Unit (127) Was Eliminated: Last Night (Tuesday), Before the Ceasefire Came into Effect, the Operations Officer of Hezbollah’s Aerial Unit, Who Was Responsible for Launching UAVs and Cruise Missiles Toward Israel, Was Eliminated

In recent years, the Hezbollah terrorist organization has established several military assets for its Aerial Unit (127) across Lebanon. These assets were used to manufacture and store hundreds of UAVs and cruise missiles of various types intended to be used in attacks on Israel and were systematically concealed within civilian villages and buildings.

The unit, established under Iranian leadership, received UAVs, cruise missiles, and production components from Iran, alongside training for its operatives. The Aerial Unit is responsible for numerous aerial terror attacks using UAVs that targeted Israel’s home front.

Since the beginning of the war, and specifically as part of Operation Northern Arrows, the IAF, guided by the Intelligence Directorate and the IAF, conducted a comprehensive effort to dismantle the Aerial Unit’s terror infrastructure. As part of these operations, the Air Force conducted strikes on numerous assets of the unit, including over 150 UAV launch positions, approximately 20 weapons storage facilities containing UAVs and cruise missiles, approximately 30 command centers used by the unit and approximately four manufacturing workshops for UAVs and cruise missiles.
70% of the unit’s stockpile of UAVs and cruise missiles of Hezbollah’s Aerial Unit meant to attack citizens of the State of Israel were destroyed.

On September 26th, 2024, the IDF eliminated the commander of the Aerial Unit, Muhammad Hussein Sarour (“Abu Saleh”), in Beirut. Approximately one month later, the IDF targeted and eliminated Khadr Al-Abed Bahja, the officer responsible for the unit’s Northern Litani sector. Yesterday (Tuesday), before the ceasefire came into effect, in a precise strike in Beirut, the IDF eliminated the unit’s operations officer, Jafar Ali Samaha.

Alongside the efforts to dismantle the unit’s personnel, commanders and capabilities, the IDF addressed the UAV threat since the outbreak of the war, with the goal of identifying and neutralizing aerial threats against Israel. In recent months, hundreds of explosive UAVs that Hezbollah launched towards Israel were intercepted. The Israeli Air Force continues to enhance its defensive systems to ensure the safety of Israel’s citizens.

IDF: IDF Troops Continue Operational Activity in Jabaliya and Beit Lahia in Northern Gaza

Following the IDF’s advance warnings to the civilian population to move away from the combat zone in Jabaliya and Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, the IAF and IDF artillery struck dozens of Hamas weapons storage facilities, military structures, and significant terrorist infrastructure sites overnight (Wednesday). These targets were struck as a result of intelligence collected from the interrogations of terrorists who were apprehended in the area.

Additionally, the IAF struck and eliminated the terrorist Morad Rajoub in Gaza City, one of two terrorists involved in a bombing attack in which approximately ten civilians were injured in the city of Be’er Sheva in May 2002. Rajoub was sentenced to 38 years in prison and was later released in the Gilad Shalit release agreement.

The ISA and the IDF recently seized weapons originating in Iran and intended to arm terrorist operatives in the Jenin area of Judea and Samaria. Subsequently, another location was revealed where the majority of the cache was buried.

As part of the operation, the forces seized rockets, 40 powerful Claymore explosives of various types, some with wireless activation systems, bombs, mortar launchers, sniper rifles, and additional weapons.

The 4000th Division, the Special Operations Division of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization, headed by Jawad Ghafari, and the Special Operations Unit of the Quds Force, in Syrian territory (18840), under the command of Unit 840’s leader, Etsar Bakri, was responsible for the smuggling operation.

In recent months, Israeli security forces have identified attempts by Iranian forces to resume smuggling advanced weapons into Israel, intended for the Judea and Samaria area.

This is part of an ongoing Iranian campaign to destabilize the region’s security by arming terrorist cells in Judea and Samaria, to carry out attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops.

The ISA and the IDF will continue to monitor and thwart in advance any Iranian activity aimed at smuggling weapons into Israel and the Judea and Samaria area.

IDF: Before the Ceasefire Began: Hezbollah’s Largest Precision-Guided Missile Production Site was Struck by the IDF

Before the ceasefire came into effect on Tuesday, IAF fighter jets, under the direction of the Intelligence Directorate, struck Hezbollah’s largest precision-guided missile production site in Bekaa’s Janta area. The 1.4-kilometer-long underground infrastructure was used to produce surface-to-surface missiles and components of different weapons, and store a range of precision weapons designated to be used in attacks on Israel.

The site was located in an underground compound near the Syrian border. Due to its proximity, the site was a central point through which thousands of weapons components and even terrorist operatives were smuggled from Syria and Lebanon. In the hours preceding the strike on the site, several strikes were conducted in the area to eliminate terrorists and dismantle its surrounding infrastructure. Among the targets struck was a central compound of Hezbollah’s Radwan Forces where Hezbollah operatives were located. The operatives trained in the compound for Hezbollah’s ‘Conquer the Galilee’ plan.

Hezbollah’s production capacity in Lebanon has increased over the past decade with Iranian support as a mechanism for arming the terrorist organization with precision-guided missiles, after several attempts made by Iran to smuggle missiles to Hezbollah were thwarted by Israel. As part of this effort, several production sites were established throughout Lebanon, which centered upon the site that was struck on Tuesday.

In recent years, Hezbollah began building and operating this site with Iranian assistance and cooperation. Iranian operatives worked at the site alongside Lebanese Hezbollah terrorists.

This is Hezbollah’s most strategic missile production infrastructure in Lebanon that was struck during the war. The strike was made possible following precise intelligence that was collected and built over the years.

This strike constitutes a blow to Hezbollah’s weapons production capabilities, which have been severely damaged in recent months.

IDF: IDF Spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari:

“We degraded Hezbollah’s launch capabilities, struck its strategic assets, eliminated its leadership, and damaged its command and control chain. We have also targeted its ability to rearm and resupply, and we have severely disrupted its ability to carry out its planned infiltration into our territory, a plan it had meticulously prepared to carry out on the day of command.”

Please find attached the statement by the IDF Spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari: https://bit.ly/49rg86d

Below is a translation of the statement:

Good evening,
Early this morning, the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon came into effect, as approved by Israel’s Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense, and the Cabinet. The IDF’s mission is to enforce the agreement – the IDF is operating determinedly – any violation of the ceasefire will be met with fire.

IDF soldiers are still positioned in southern Lebanon, in villages and areas from which the forces will gradually withdraw in accordance with the agreement. IAF aircraft continue to fly in Lebanese airspace, gathering intelligence and are prepared to act wherever necessary. In the coming weeks, we will reshape the defensive and security areas and implement lessons learned from the past.

Throughout the day, our forces have operated to enforce the ceasefire agreement, identified suspects approaching restricted areas, detained them, and fired warning shots.
We have also eliminated terrorists today.

IDF forces are positioned in various areas in southern Lebanon. Residents of southern Lebanon, pay close attention to this map. We are present and operating in the area. The presence of armed operatives in the region constitutes a violation (of the agreement), and any armed operative will be neutralized or apprehended.

Today, we have enforced violations in the field, eliminating Hezbollah operatives. We apprehended suspects in the village of Tir Harfah and are currently interrogating them. Additionally, we will not permit movement by vehicles to the area during the night. Residents of Lebanon, as you have seen throughout the war, we do what we say. For your protection, we call on you not to approach the area where our forces are positioned. The ceasefire agreement is structured to be gradual, and we will update you when it is safe to return to the area.

Over the past year, our forces conducted five major operational efforts against Hezbollah, the murderous terrorist organization that has dragged Lebanon to the place it finds itself in today. We degraded Hezbollah’s launch capabilities, struck its strategic assets, eliminated its leadership, and damaged its command and control chain. We have also targeted its ability to rearm and resupply, and we have severely disrupted its ability to carry out its planned infiltration into our territory, a plan it had meticulously prepared to carry out on the day of command.

The IDF operated against Hezbollah according to a structured plan, taking advantage of operational opportunities, using different tactics, demonstrating courage and conducting strikes throughout the entirety of Lebanon and the Middle East.

We have significantly weakened Hezbollah and dealt it a very severe blow – we’ve damaged the threat it has built over many years against the State of Israel and its citizens.
Hezbollah is also an Iranian strategic project, in which the leadership of Iran has invested substantial resources, money, weapons, and manpower over the years. Iran’s leadership has lost a strategic asset right next to our border.

We have targeted the rocket threat by raiding Hezbollah’s terrorist assets. We located thousands of rockets and destroyed them during both ground and aerial operations. Just today, we identified and collected weapons from one of the villages where our forces are still operating.
We have targeted and struck Hezbollah’s strategic capabilities, including its naval missiles, weapon manufacturing capabilities, and aerial unit responsible for launching UAVs into Israeli territory. Yesterday, we eliminated the Head of Operations of Hezbollah’s Aerial Unit in a strike in Dahieh. During the course of the war, we destroyed approximately 70% of the UAV stockpile held by the unit.

During the night, in the hours before the ceasefire agreement went into effect, we struck around 180 targets across Lebanon. One of the targets we attacked was a central Hezbollah missile production site in Lebanon, near the Syrian border. This is a site we have been monitoring for a long time. In the illustration here, you can see the production site, which is located underground, within a sprawling underground facility that stretches over a kilometer and a half and is divided into multiple rooms. Each room produces a different component of precision missiles and surface-to-surface missiles. This site is located near the Syrian border, and through it, weapons and critical components for the production process were smuggled. We struck the production equipment at the site and the weapons stored there. This is a strategic asset of Hezbollah. Near this site, we also struck a compound of Hezbollah’s Radwan Forces, where dozens of operatives were eliminated along with weapons.

In addition, yesterday we targeted a crossing where we identified an attempt to transfer weapons from Syria to Hezbollah. This strike is part of the overall effort throughout the war to target Hezbollah’s Unit 4400 and the terrorist organization’s economic infrastructure. We have also targeted, in Syria, all attempts to transfer weapons to Hezbollah. If we identify intentions to transfer weapons to the organization, we will operate.

Since the beginning of the war, we have conducted aerial strikes on 12,500 Hezbollah terrorist targets across Lebanon. In the illustration here, showing Dahieh in Beirut, you can see the number of targets we struck and destroyed. In total, we struck about 360 targets in Dahieh, including terrorist command centers and weapons production sites. Each red dot marks a target.

The IDF’s operations in Lebanon were strong, planned, and included tactics and courageous operational activities, some of which were covert and have yet to be revealed. All of this was aimed at ensuring the safety of the residents of northern Israel, who have been displaced from their homes for over a year, they lived under the threat of rocketfire, and it is our duty to return them (to their homes) safely. We will enforce the ceasefire agreement with determination, and we are also preparing for the possibility of returning to intense combat and making the necessary preparations for that.

Our forces continue to operate in Gaza, Judea and Samaria and more distant arenas.
The 101 hostages are always front and center for us, brutally held by Hamas for 418 days, far from their families, in inhumane conditions. We are committed to bringing them home. This is an urgent mission, and we will continue to operate to create the conditions necessary to achieve this objective and all objectives of the war, across all arenas, for the security of Israel’s civilians.

A Message from Shalom
