IDF Updates – October 6th

IDF: Following the sirens that sounded due to a hostile aircraft infiltration between 00:13 and 00:14 in the Golan area, it was determined to be a false identification.

IDF: Following the sirens that sounded between 00:30 and 00:31 in the area of Kiryat Shmona, approximately 30 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory. Some of the projectiles were intercepted and others fell in the area.

The IDF is currently striking terror targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the area of Beirut.

IDF: A short while ago, with the direction of IDF and ISA intelligence, the IAF conducted a precise strike on Hamas terrorists who were operating inside a command and control center embedded within a compound that previously served as the ‘Ibn Rushd’ School in the area of Deir al Balah.

In addition, following IDF and ISA intelligence, the IAF conducted a precise strike on Hamas terrorists who were operating within a command and control center embedded in a structure that previously served as the ‘Shuhada al-Aqsa’ Mosque in the area of Deir al Balah.

These command and control centers were used by Hamas terrorists to plan and execute terrorist attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel.

Prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence information.

This is a further example of the Hamas terrorist organization’s systematic abuse of civilian infrastructure in violation of international law. The IDF will continue to operate against Hamas in defense of the citizens of Israel.

IDF: Over the past hour, two UAVs launched from the East toward Israeli territory were successfully intercepted by an Israeli Navy Missile Boat in the northern area of the Mediterranean Sea. No injuries were reported.

In addition, a UAV launched from the East was intercepted by the IAF off the coast of Gush Dan. No injuries were reported.

No sirens were sounded in accordance with protocol.

Attached is a video of the interception: https://bit.ly/3YbdBsx

IDF: Overnight, following IDF intelligence, the IAF conducted a series of targeted strikes on a number of weapons storage facilities and terrorist infrastructure sites belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the area of Beirut.

Prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including advancing warnings to the population in the area.

The Hezbollah terrorist organization deliberately embeds its weapons production facilities and weaponry beneath residential buildings in the heart of the city of Beirut, putting the civilian population in the area at risk.
The IDF is continuing to operate to degrade and dismantle Hezbollah’s capabilities.

IDF: The IDF Expands the Humanitarian Area in Al-Mawasi and Updates Evacuation Routes from Northern Gaza

This morning (Sunday), the IDF announced the expansion of the Humanitarian Area in Al-Mawasi in the Gaza Strip. The expanded Humanitarian Area includes field hospitals that have been established since the outbreak of the war, tent compounds, and supplies of food, water, medicine, and medical equipment.

For this purpose, two humanitarian evacuation routes from northern Gaza have been reopened: one along the Salah al-Din Road and the other along the Al-Rashid coastal road.

Additionally, the IDF has published maps for Palestinian civilians highlighting potential evacuation areas in northern Gaza, including “block zones” that correspond to neighborhoods and regions.

The IDF will continue to operate in order to achieve the goals of the war, including dismantling the Hamas terrorist organization and bringing home all the hostages.

IDF: Following the sirens that sounded at 07:34 in the Western Galilee area, a number of suspicious aerial targets that were fired from Lebanon were successfully intercepted by the IAF. The targets did not cross into Israeli territory. No injuries were reported.
Sirens were activated due to the possibility of falling shrapnel from the interception.

IDF: Following prior IDF intelligence, an ongoing situational assessment, and IDF activity in the field that all indicated the presence of terrorists and terror infrastructure in the area of Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip, as well as efforts by Hamas to rebuild its operational capabilities in the area, the 162nd Division began operating in the Jabaliya area overnight (Sunday).

The troops of the 401st Brigade and the 460th Brigade have successfully encircled the area and are currently continuing to operate in the area.

Prior to and during the operation, the IAF struck dozens of military targets in order to assist IDF ground troops. Among the targets struck were weapons storage facilities, underground infrastructure sites, terrorist cells, and additional military infrastructure sites.

This operation to systematically dismantle terrorist infrastructure in the area will continue as long as required in order to achieve its objectives.

The 188th Brigade, under the command of the 36th Division, has located and dismantled weapons caches, underground infrastructure, and eliminated Radwan Forces anti-tank missile squads of the Radwan Forces in southern Lebanon.

In recent days, the forces identified and dismantled a Hezbollah combat command center, which was used to store weapons, and plan and execute attacks on communities in northern Israel over the past few months.

During one of the targeted raids, the forces uncovered an ambush laid by Hezbollah, as well as weapons in a vehicle belonging to Hezbollah terrorists. Additionally, a pit booby-trapped with explosives was located and destroyed.

Commander of the 188th Brigade, Colonel Or Volozhinsky: “In recent days, we have focused on dismantling infrastructure above and below ground, and we will continue to do so as long as necessary, until we ensure the safe return of residents to the north with full security. IDF: Attached is a Hebrew message from the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, to IDF soldiers and reservists: https://bit.ly/4dv58oA

Attached is a translation of the message from the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, to IDF soldiers and reservists:

IDF Soldiers and Commanders,

We are fighting! For a year now, we have been in the midst of a complex, multi-front war, with many significant and extensive achievements. Many challenges still lie ahead. IDF soldiers are deployed and fighting with strength on all fronts without stopping.

This is a long war, measured not only by capabilities but also by the willpower and perseverance over time. For our enemies – every month, every week, and every day is worse than the one before. Even after the campaign ends, we will need to maintain our achievements, and our enemies will know, beyond any doubt, there will be no revival for those who seek to destroy us.

A year has passed since October 7th, the day we failed in our mission to protect the citizens of the State of Israel. We are now in the Ten Days of Repentance. October 7th is not only a day of remembrance, but also a call for deep introspection.A recognition of our failures and a commitment to learning from them, while assessing the challenges, both those we have faced and those that still await us.

We began this year from a difficult and painful point, but we regained our composure, advanced forward to fight, and grew stronger – from this combat, a generation of warriors and commanders has emerged – with unparalleled combat experience and unwavering courage, leading the IDF in one of the most complex wars we have known. People are the key to fulfilling these difficult missions. Alongside us are the reservists, fighting with unparalleled dedication, over a long and challenging period. Each and every one of you is part of this campaign, of our just war. Today, I want to say to you – your commitment, courage, and steadfast spirit demonstrated over the past year are a source of deep pride for every citizen of Israel and for me as your commander.

A year has passed, and we have defeated the military wing of Hamas, and we continue to fight against the organization’s terrorist capabilities; We have dealt a severe blow to Hezbollah, which has lost all of its senior leadership. We are not stopping – we fight, debrief, learn, and improve. We are taking an offensive, tactical, and proactive approach on all fronts, adapting our defensive strategies on all borders, and understanding that the IDF must be a greater army that takes good care of its people. We are destroying our enemies’ capabilities, and we will ensure that these capabilities are not rebuilt, so that October 7th is never repeated.

Commanders,

Many challenges still lie ahead in achieving the war’s objectives – defeating the enemy, returning the hostages – an urgent mission of the highest moral value – and returning the civilians to their homes. Let us remember the words of the author of Ecclesiastes: “Whatever it is in your power to do, do with all your might.” It is in our power, in your power, to take action and to succeed. Remember those who sacrificed their lives for the homeland – the fallen, their families, and the wounded, in both spirit and body, who face the consequences of their heroism every day – thanks to them, we are here. We will continue to walk with them and in their light.

At the start of the new year, let us remember and remind ourselves and our enemies – this is a war for our right to be a free people in our land, as well as for our values, beliefs, and the righteousness of our path. We will persevere, and we will win.

Continue with this strength, the eyes of the entire nation are upon us.

I am with you at every step,

Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi
Chief of the General Staff
