IDF Updates – September 23rd

IDF: “Here we are exposing Hezbollah’s method of hiding a cruise missile inside a home. The terrorists create a designated opening for the missile launch. Here you can see how we identified the terrorists making an opening in the building that exposed the missile. In a precise strike, the IDF eliminated the terrorists and this missile launching infrastructure, shortly before the launch.
Shortly, the IDF will engage in extensive, precise strikes, against terror targets which have been embedded widely throughout Lebanon.
We advise civilians from Lebanese villages located in and next to buildings and areas used by Hezbollah for military purposes, such as those used to store weapons, to immediately move out of harm’s way for their own safety.”

Attached is the English statement of the IDF Spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari: https://bit.ly/3XEo1zs

This morning, the IDF launched extensive, proactive airstrikes, based on precise intelligence, aimed at degrading the capabilities and infrastructure of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon. This is infrastructure that Hezbollah has built over many years. So far, since this morning, more than three hundred terrorist targets across Lebanon have been struck.
We are continuing to conduct a situational assessment regarding the home front, and at this stage, there is no change to the defensive guidelines. However, it is important to remain vigilant and alert. Follow the Home Front Command’s defensive guidelines as you have throughout the war. The full guidelines are available on the website and official platforms. We will take all necessary precautions and provide immediate updates on any changes.
The scenes that can be seen now in southern Lebanon show Hezbollah’s weapons exploding inside homes. Every house that we strike contains weapons—rockets, missiles, UAVs that are intended to kill Israeli civilians.
Here you can see on the screen one example from the recent strikes. This was a strike on a building in the village of Jabal al-Batam, which clearly shows that there were secondary explosions, as a result of the explosion of weapons that were hidden inside the building.
We are continuing to monitor Hezbollah’s preparations in the field in order to proactively thwart attacks against Israeli territory, and we are systematically broadening our strikes against Hezbollah. We are preparing to strike terrorist targets in the Beqaa Valley region soon.
Hezbollah stores strategic weapons in civilian buildings, knowingly using the population as human shields and endangering them.

We are currently using aerial and intelligence means to locate the weapons, destroy them and remove the threat they pose to the citizens of the State of Israel, and mitigate the harm to Lebanese civilians as much as possible.
This warning is focused on the villages in the Beqaa valley. I urge the Lebanese residents of the villages in the Beqaa Valley who are inside or near houses where rockets and weapons are stored, to move away immediately! For your safety and protection. You can see the operations we are currently conducting in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah intends to launch these weapons toward Israel, and we will not allow it! Stay away for your own protection. Hassan Nasrallah is lying to you and putting you in danger. Listen to the warnings and messages that will be issued by the IDF for your safety and the safety of your families.

Citizens of Israel, the IDF is doing and will continue to do everything to protect you. We are conducting ongoing situational assessments and will update you with every development.

Copied here are the full remarks of the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi: “This morning, the IDF launched a proactive offensive operation. Essentially, we are targeting combat infrastructure that Hezbollah has been building for the past 20 years. This is very significant. We are striking targets and preparing for the next phases, which I will elaborate on shortly. Ultimately, everything is focused on creating the conditions to return the residents of the north to their homes”.

IDF: Following the sirens that sounded at 19:42 in the area of Haifa, approximately five projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory. The IDF Aerial Defense Array intercepted a number of projectiles.

IDF Spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari:

“Following IDF strikes today, we saw many secondary explosions … Behind every secondary explosion, there’s a building containing deadly munitions, rockets and missiles triggering such a reaction. It is likely that some of the casualties are from these secondary explosions.”

Over the past day (Monday), the IDF conducted precise, intelligence-based strikes on approximately 1,300 Hezbollah terror targets in Lebanon in order to remove immediate threats against the State of Israel.

During the strikes, long-range cruise missiles, heavyweight rockets, rockets with warheads capable of carrying 100kg of explosives, short-range rockets, and explosive UAVs were all struck by the IDF.

Hezbollah located its strategic munitions and capabilities inside Lebanese villages and civilian homes, and intended to fire them toward civilians in Israel while endangering the Lebanese civilian population.

As a result of many of the strikes, there were significant secondary explosions caused by Hezbollah’s weapons that were being stored inside the buildings.

In accordance with the situational assessment, the Minister of Defense extended the special situation for the home front to the entire country. At this time, there are no changes to the Home Front Command defensive guidelines. We will immediately update if any changes are made on the relevant platforms.
