IDF Updates – September 2nd


IDF: Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in open areas in the communities near the Gaza Strip, an interceptor was launched toward a false target.
Sirens were sounded in accordance with protocol.


IDF: The Chief of the General Staff in a situational assessment: “The IDF continues to operate at all times throughout the Middle East in order to defend Israel and thwart existing and emerging threats. We carried out a significant strike against strategic targets of the Houthi terror regime in Yemen.”

“Our message is clear, there is no containment. We will not allow harm to the State of Israel. We will continue to strike terror wherever it may be found.

Our troops operated to recover the bodies of hostages who were murdered by the Hamas terrorist organization. This is an ongoing, moral duty that we will persist in. We will not rest and we will not stop until all our hostages are returned, by every possible means.”

The Chief of the General Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir, held a situational assessment this morning (Friday).
As part of the situational assessment, the Chief of the General Staff referred to the IDF’s activity last night in Yemen and to the continued strikes against Hamas in Gaza City.

In addition, the Chief of the General Staff referred to the operation to recover the body of Ilan Weiss, who was abducted from Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7th, and remains linked to another hostage, whose name has not yet been cleared for publication.

From the remarks of the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir: “We carried out a significant strike against strategic targets of the Houthi terror regime in Yemen. The Houthis operate as another terrorist proxy of Iran, continue to attack the State of Israel, and undermine regional and international stability. Our message is clear, there is no containment. In Gaza, the IDF continues to operate and strike Hamas. The Southern Command is enhancing the strikes in the Gaza City area, and we will intensify our efforts in the coming weeks. Last night, based on precise intelligence, and in parallel with other operations across the Middle East, our troops acted to recover the bodies of hostages who were murdered by the Hamas terrorist organization. This is an ongoing, moral duty that we will persist in. We will not rest and we will not stop until all our hostages are returned, by every possible means.”

IDF: Earlier today (Friday), the IDF struck and eliminated the terrorist Ahmad Naeem Maatouk in the area of Sir El Gharbiyeh in southern Lebanon.

The terrorist held the position of a battalion staff commander in Hezbollah’s Radwan Force, and during the war, he advanced numerous terror attacks against the State of Israel.

The terrorists’ actions constituted a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon.

The IDF will continue to operate to remove any threat posed to the State of Israel.


Joint IDF and ISA Announcement:

A short while ago, the IDF and ISA struck a key Hamas terrorist in the area of Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip.

Prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence.

The terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip systematically violate international law, exploiting civilian infrastructure and the Gazan population as human shields for terrorist activity.

IDF: The IDF, Guided by IDF and ISA Intelligence, Recovered the Body of the Deceased Hostage Idan Shtivi

In a complex IDF operation conducted this week, and directed by the Hostages and Missing Persons Headquarters in the Intelligence Directorate, and the ISA, the body of the deceased hostage Idan Shtivi was recovered from the Gaza Strip, along with the body of the deceased hostage Ilan Weiss.

The complex rescue operation was carried out by IDF troops of the Southern Command, in coordination with the IDF Intelligence Directorate and other special forces. The operation was made possible due to precise intelligence from the Hostages and Missing Persons Headquarters in the Intelligence Directorate, the Intelligence Directorate, and the ISA.

IDF: The IDF Struck a Facility That Hosted a Gathering of Senior Military Officials and Additional Senior Officials of the Houthi Terrorist Regime in the Sanaa Area

On Thursday, the IAF, guided by intelligence from the IDF Intelligence Directorate, struck a facility that hosted dozens of senior officials of the Houthi terrorist regime.

IDF: The IDF Struck Hezbollah Underground Infrastructure in Beaufort Ridge

A short while ago, the IDF struck military infrastructure, including underground infrastructure, at a Hezbollah site in which military activity was identified, in the area of the Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon.

The existence of the site and the activity within it constitute a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon.

The IDF will continue to operate to remove any threat posed to the State of Israel.


IDF: Activity of the Kfir Brigade in Khan Yunis: Elimination of Dozens of Terrorists and Dismantling of Approximately 8 Kilometers of Underground Tunnel Routes

Over the past three months, the Kfir Brigade’s combat team, operating under the command of the 36th Division, has been conducting extensive operations in southern Khan Yunis. The missions focused on expanding and consolidating operational control of the area, eliminating terrorists, and dismantling terrorist infrastructure.

During these operations, dozens of terrorists were eliminated in close-quarters encounters and in cooperation with the Israeli Air Force. Among those eliminated were terrorists who had participated in the brutal massacre of October 7th.

IDF: IDF Troops Continue to Operate Against the Terrorist Organizations in the Gaza Strip

Guided by IDF and ISA intelligence, IDF troops continue operational activity against the terrorist organizations throughout the Gaza Strip.

In the northern Gaza Strip, IDF troops continue to locate and dismantle terrorist infrastructure. Over the past day, IDF artillery struck several terrorist infrastructure and observation posts that were used by terrorists to observe IDF troops. In addition, troops struck a structure from which an anti-tank missile was fired toward IDF troops; no injuries were reported.

Simultaneously, IDF artillery troops dismantled a camera that was used by terrorists to observe IDF troops. Furthermore, over the past week, IDF troops operating in the area of Jabaliya eliminated terrorists, dismantled underground infrastructure and explosive sites.

IDF: Elimination of Terrorists and Strikes on Military Targets in the Gaza Strip: Footage From the Activity of the 99th Division

Over the past month, in a joint activity of the 99th Division and the ISA, dozens of terrorists who operated to carry out terrorist activities against IDF troops in the northern and central Gaza Strip were eliminated.

As part of the operation, the terrorist Ahmad Abu Deif, who since 2024 had served as deputy company commander in the Zeitoun Battalion, was eliminated. In his role, he planned, orchestrated, and carried out dozens of plots and ambushes against IDF troops. Additionally he worked to recruit additional terrorists into the Hamas terrorist organization.

In another operation, the terrorist Taleb Sidqi Taleb Abu Atiwi, commander of a Nukhba team who infiltrated into Israeli territory on October 7th, was eliminated.

In addition, an Air Force aircraft, directed by the 990th Fire Brigade and in cooperation with maneuvering forces, struck and destroyed military structures in the Shuja’iyya and Zeitoun areas, which served as meeting points for Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists to plan terror activities against IDF troops in the Gaza Strip.

The IDF continues to operate in the Gaza Strip in order to protect Israeli civilians.

Humanitarian Aid Data and Efforts on September 1:

Over the past day, more than 320 humanitarian aid trucks entered Gaza through the Kerem Shalom and Zikim crossings.

Additionally, 350 trucks were collected and distributed by the UN and international organizations, while the contents of several hundred more remain on the Gazan side of the crossings, awaiting collection.

We have facilitated the entry of tankers of UN fuel for the operation of essential humanitarian systems.

We will continue expanding our efforts to facilitate humanitarian aid for the civilian population of Gaza.
